Start Date: September 1st
Schedule: Monday-Friday 11-7 occasionally 2-10
Compensation- $45+ per hour- family is flexible on pay depending on level of experience and if there is a personality match.
A warm, professional family in Park Slope is seeking a proactive, experienced full-time Family Assistant/Nanny to join their household long-term. Both parents work from home, with a 2.5-year-old daughter who attends preschool from 9am–3pm. Their current family assistant is transitioning out at the end of August, and they are looking for someone to step into this important role. Would love for someone to give suggestions - "I know you said you wanted your daughter to eat more peas, have you tried..." Would love someone who has a teaching background to incorporate their knowledge of early childhood throughout the day.
Most important qualities needed-
- Someone who is laser focused on their daughter. When out around town- this person is the nanny engaged with the child, not the other nannies.
- Must have the strength to carry a child up and down stairs or run after her on a scooter, take her on the subway with a stroller, etc.
-Someone who takes pride in their work and wants to be the best nanny around.
- Takes initiative!!! Be proactive if you see something that needs to be taken care of, don't wait for someone to tell you to do it.
- Team player- must be able to get along with the other staff.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide attentive, hands-on care for their daughter from 3:30pm until bedtime
Assist with family tasks and household organization while the child is in school- (family has a housekeeper and house manager as well)
Plan and coordinate enriching activities, playdates, and age-appropriate learning (letters, numbers, games)
Be proactive in supporting the child’s development—firm, loving, respectful, and never distracted (especially not by phone)
Prepare nutritious meals for the child and involve the child in cooking for teaching moments, monitor her wardrobe/needs (e.g., outgrowing clothes, supplies)
Travel readiness (domestic and international, 1–3 trips per year), including helping plan kid-friendly activities on the road
Ideal Candidate:
Mature and responsible with a “mom energy” approach
Calm, thoughtful, and able to gently enforce boundaries
Flexible and self-sufficient—able to adjust schedule when needed and take initiative without constant direction
Strong judgment, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills
Able to take over class/activity planning and lighten the parents’ mental load
Open to growing with the family, including supporting a second child in the future
