Position Title: Exceptional Family Assistant / Childcare Professional

Location: Scarsdale, NY (with frequent travel)
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM (flexibility required for travel and occasional evenings/weekends)
Compensation: $40–$45+/hour (commensurate with experience) and negotiable for the right candidate

About the Family

A warm and dynamic private family of four is seeking a polished and capable Family Assistant to support the smooth operation of their household and provide exceptional care for their two daughters, ages 5 and 10. The family splits their time between their Scarsdale, NY residence and frequent travel destinations, including bi-weekly ski trips to Vermont in the winter and two annual weeks in St. Barts (March). The family employs a full-time housekeeper and part-time chef.

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is extremely organized, proactive, nurturing, and a strong multitasker who thrives in a busy household. You should have a structured personality, a college degree, and a genuine love for children. A background in childcare is essential, especially during travel when you will take the lead on supervising and engaging the children. You must be a confident swimmer, comfortable managing schedules, and skilled in adhering to and creating systems that allow the home to operate efficiently. Efficiency is key in this household and the family thrives on organization and attention to detail! 

This role is essentially a second set of hands for Mom – a "household clone" who can anticipate needs, problem-solve, and represent the family professionally. Ability to write well and respond to emails and messages professionally is a must!

Key Responsibilities

• Primary role when family is home will be the Family Assistant Role (as less childcare is needed), but always engaging with the kids is a key part of this role!

• ​​​​​​Primary role when traveling with the family (skiing in Vermont every other weekend, two weeks annually in St. Barts) will be childcare during travel - Note: Skiing is not a requirement, but if you love to ski, that is a bonus!

• Create and maintain household systems and inventory

• Write thank-you notes and manage professional correspondence and emails

• Coordinate with household vendors and service providers

• Light housekeeping (shared with full-time housekeeper)

• Family laundry (minimally, but as needed)

• Assist with meal prep and dinner setup

• Weekly grocery shopping and errands

• Driving as needed (must have a valid driver’s license)

• Assist with travel plans, booking, packing and unpacking, etc.

• Travel with the family (domestic and international) - Valid U.S. Passport

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree required

• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in a similar role

• Excellent references (minimum of 2)

• Background check required upon conditional offer

• Strong swimming ability

• Valid driver’s license

• U.S. work authorization and Valid U.S. Passport
