Summary
The Director of Information Technology position will manage and oversee IT operations and be an active participant in business-based initiatives, data security strategies and overall future planning efforts. This position is responsible for ensuring the user experience is positive and predictable in terms of both technology and customer service by leveraging internal resources and vendor partners.  The position requires an understanding of current and future organizational information system requirements and the ability to identify the practical implications and system capabilities related to achieving organizational goals.  The Director of Information Technology will have primary responsibility for implementing IT-related policies and procedures based on best practices (ITIL,NIST,etc.) as well as utilizing a continuous improvement mindset to drive these best practices and represent these to business stakeholders.

Responsibilities 

Planning and Organizing

  • Collaborate with senior leaders to determine organizational priorities and relate those to technology resources. 
  • Prioritize relevant activities based on multiple priorities to achieve assigned responsibilities within agreed upon timeframes. 
  • Collaborate with team members to provide feedback on the overall process and propose areas for improvement and/or to mitigate risk. 
  • Create, manage, and budget for an enterprise architecture view as it relates to business systems, IT systems and system infrastructure. 
  • Manage and monitor relevant metrics in customer service as well as system performance with a focus on continual improvement. 
  • Develop and maintain written policies and procedures that govern the computer and information technology functions of the organization.
  • Develop, maintain, monitor and test business continuity plans that will keep the organization functional in the event of a crisis.
  • Communicate all relevant changes to key White Horse Village senior leaders to ensure they are aware and trained on those aspects. 
  • Leading the IT Investment Committee.

Vendor Management  

  • Collaborate with outside providers to ensure accountability, responsibility and adherence to best practices. 
  • Ensure key metrics are established, tracked and monitor with key vendor partners
  • Continually negotiate services and costs on behalf of White Horse Village to get to the most cost-effective outcomes while meeting technical and business requirements
  • Be a liaison between technical vendors and White Horse Village staff in terms of day to day or operational impact. 

Data Security

  • Utilize in-depth technical knowledge, continuous improvement methods and business requirements to design and implement secure solutions to meet customer needs while protecting the organization’s assets.
  • Develop and maintain security standards, procedures and guidelines for multiple platforms in line with regulatory guidelines.
  • Collaborate with HIPAA Security Officer to develop and maintain security standards, procedures and guidelines to ensure compliance with the health information technology requirements of HIPAA.

Subject Matter Expertise 

  • Keep up to date with current trends as it relates to technology and ensure an understanding of how the organization compares. 
  • Work closely with departmental and senior managers to determine the maintenance and growth needs of the network, devices, and systems.  
  • Oversee and assist with managing processes i.e. technical change management, roll back planning, root cause analysis, etc. 
  • Assists Project Owners with developing requirements, outlines, budgets, timelines/schedules , and project tracking and status reports for information technology projects including upgrades and new implementations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; degree in the field of computer science, MIS, or engineering desirable.
  • Minimum of eight years’ relevant work experience, with a preference for experience working within a healthcare organization.
  • Working knowledge of ITIL, NIST, and PMBOK concepts and/or other best practice frameworks with a focus on continual improvement
  • Strong organizational skills with keen ability to prioritize and multi-task.
  • Effective interpersonal skills and relationship-building skills while maintaining a customer service mindset.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, ability to present ideas in user-friendly language.  
  • Ability and willingness to train users and communicate procedures and changes related to technology.
  • Experience with primarily outsourced models and how to manage vendors underneath that structure,
  • Lean towards cloud-based technology solutions rather than on premise software particularly related to the Microsoft 365 environment.
  • Some background in Networking preferred but not required.
