Senior Risk Manager
Location: Calgary, hybrid | Contract
Pay Rate: $100 – $110/hour
About the Role
The Senior Risk Manager is responsible for leading end-to-end risk assessments across large-scale initiatives, system implementations, and strategic projects. This role plays a critical part in identifying vulnerabilities, strengthening internal controls, and ensuring alignment with enterprise risk management frameworks.
Combining deep technical expertise with strategic oversight, the successful candidate will partner cross-functionally to deliver actionable insights, enhance risk processes, and support informed decision-making at the executive level.
Risk Strategy & Assessment
- Conduct end-to-end risk assessments across large-scale projects and system implementations
- Identify gaps, dependencies, and vulnerabilities within proposed designs and processes
- Align initiative-level risks with the broader Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) framework
Process Improvement & Framework Ownership
- Own and continuously enhance the NIRAP framework to support business growth and evolving regulatory requirements
- Drive process maturity by improving risk methodologies and governance structures
Control Validation & Innovation
- Evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls across business processes
- Develop and implement tools to map controls to end-to-end workflows and mitigate risk exposure
Reporting & Insights
- Develop executive-level dashboards and reporting to track Key Risk Indicators (KRIs)
- Translate complex risk data into clear, actionable insights for senior leadership
- Provide ongoing visibility into risk exposure throughout the project lifecycle
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Internal Audit, Compliance, and Business Operations teams
- Build strong relationships across multiple lines of defense to drive alignment and influence outcomes
- Support organization-wide risk initiatives and strategic priorities
What You’ll Need
- 8+ years of experience in enterprise, operational, or technology risk management
- Professional designations such as FRM, CRM, CPA, or equivalent preferred
- Proven experience conducting complex risk assessments and validating internal controls
- Strong ability to communicate complex concepts to executive audiences
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate across teams and influence stakeholders
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with high independence
Compensation
The hourly rate for this position is $100 – $110/hour, based on experience, qualifications, and overall fit for the role.
