IT Auditor Team Lead

Our client, a leading global investment bank with offices in Montreal, is seeking an IT Auditor Team Lead to oversee IT audit functions for the Montreal office. About the Role

As the IT Auditor Team Lead, you will be responsible for managing and executing IT audit activities, overseeing a team of three (one senior and two intermediate auditors), and ensuring comprehensive audit coverage across IT, cybersecurity, and data functions. This role requires a strong background in both general audit and IT audit, with an ideal candidate possessing 6-8 years of overall audit experience.

Key Responsibilities

IT Audit & Risk Management

  • Lead and execute IT audit engagements, ensuring compliance with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.

  • Assess and validate risk controls across IT systems, cybersecurity, and data governance.

  • Monitor and challenge internal controls, ensuring the organization meets financial and operational risk mandates.

  • Identify control weaknesses, escalating critical findings to senior management in accordance with company policies.

  • Document and communicate audit findings and recommendations to key stakeholders.

Team Leadership & People Management

  • Oversee a team of three IT auditors, providing mentorship and guidance to enhance performance and audit effectiveness.

  • Plan, allocate, and manage audit projects, ensuring team efficiency and resource optimization.

  • Conduct performance evaluations and support professional development within the team.

  • Foster collaboration between local and global audit teams to align with enterprise-wide audit initiatives.

Collaboration & Reporting

  • Maintain open communication with senior management, risk committees, and key stakeholders across global offices.

  • Draft and present reports to leadership, summarizing audit findings, recommendations, and risk assessments.

  • Contribute to the development of audit methodologies and best practices to enhance overall audit effectiveness.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • 6-8 years of total audit experience, with a strong foundation in both general and IT audit.

  • CISA certification is required.

  • Financial services industry experience (banking, insurance, asset management, etc.).

  • Hands-on experience managing or mentoring junior auditors.

  • Deep knowledge of risk, compliance, and regulatory requirements for IT systems and cybersecurity.

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to interact with senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, global environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
