Role:System Administrator (SAD)
Administers ICT system components related to hosting services to meet service requirements. Installs, configures and upgrades ICT systems and infrastructure components. Administers day-to-day operations to ensure continuity of service, recovery, security and performance needs across server, virtualization, storage and backup environments.
Nature of the tasks
- Investigate, diagnose and solve system, hardware and software related problems.
- Install, configure and upgrade infrastructure software, including monitoring solutions.
- Test and validate upgrades and infrastructure changes.
- Schedule installation and maintenance activities to minimize service disruption.
- Monitor, diagnose and resolve infrastructure performance and availability issues.
- Analyse storage environments and recommend optimisation or remediation actions.
- Install, maintain and support Data Centre hardware infrastructure (servers, enclosures, UPS, patch panels, tape libraries, cabling, etc.).
- Upgrade and configure NetApp storage systems, including MetroCluster environments.
- Administer enterprise storage platforms including EMC VMAX/PMAX, HDS, HP, IBM and Pure Storage systems.
- Build and maintain VMware vSphere clusters and virtualization environments.
- Manage backup infrastructure solutions including NetBackup and Veritas PureDisk Appliance.
- Ensure compliance with organisational procedures to maintain integrity and security of systems and infrastructure.
Knowledge and skills
- In-depth knowledge of Data Centre hardware infrastructure.
- In-depth knowledge of Windows/Linux server operating systems.
- In-depth knowledge of hypervisor solutions (VMware/Hyper-V).
- In-depth knowledge of enterprise storage technologies (SAN/NAS, NetApp, EMC, Pure Storage).
- In-depth knowledge of backup and recovery solutions.
- Experience with VMware vSphere cluster administration.
- Experience with racking, cabling and connecting hardware in Data Centres.
- Experience with advanced troubleshooting and infrastructure performance analysis.
- CI/CD, kubernetes, docker, automisation etc
- Ability to work independently.

- SolarWinds Certified Professional
- MCSE/MCSA: Windows Server 2012 or above
- Microsoft Azure Administrator
- Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA®) or above
- Linux Professional Institute LPIC-1 or above
- Oracle Certified Professional Oracle Linux
- VMware Certified Professional – Cloud Management and Automation (VCP-CMA) or above
- NetApp Certified Data Administrator
