Overview

A leading packaging machinery manufacturer is seeking an experienced Field Service Engineer to support the installation, service, and maintenance of advanced packaging systems. This role focuses on automated case packing, robotic packaging, and stretch wrapping systems used in high-volume food, beverage, and consumer goods operations. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, hands-on experience with industrial automation, and a customer-focused mindset.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform installations, commissioning, and start-up of packaging machinery at customer sites.

  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain automated equipment including case packers, palletizers, stretch wrappers, and conveyors.

  • Provide on-site and remote technical support to customers and internal teams.

  • Conduct operator training to ensure safe and effective equipment use.

  • Document service work, diagnostics, and recommended solutions in detailed reports.

  • Maintain strong customer relationships through clear communication and responsive service.

  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and sales teams to resolve customer issues.

  • Manage spare parts usage, warranty claims, and equipment modifications.

  • Travel frequently to customer sites across the U.S. (approximately 25–40%, including overnight trips).

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of field service, maintenance, or electro-mechanical experience.

  • Hands-on skills in mechanical assembly, adjustment, and component replacement.

  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and PLC ladder logic.

  • Proficiency with electrical troubleshooting tools such as multimeters.

  • Experience with packaging, automation, or robotics systems strongly preferred.

  • Strong communication and customer service skills.

  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel overnight as required.

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs and work in manufacturing/industrial environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience servicing packaging automation equipment (case packers, palletizers, stretch wrappers).

  • Familiarity with PLC programming and troubleshooting.

  • Experience with robotic systems integration.

  • Technical degree or equivalent training in electro-mechanical technology.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary range: $70,000 – $100,000 per year (depending on experience)
