The Senior Project Accountant will be responsible for overseeing the financial performance of complex projects, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, compliance with company policies, and providing critical insights to project managers and executives. This role is fully remote and requires a proactive professional with strong accounting expertise, problem-solving skills, and the ability to support large, multi-disciplinary project teams.
Manage project accounting functions including budgeting, forecasting, billing, and cost analysis.
Prepare and analyze monthly project financial reports and metrics for management.
Partner with project managers and stakeholders to monitor financial health of projects.
Identify and resolve complex accounting issues while ensuring compliance with internal controls.
Develop financial strategies and recommendations to improve profitability and performance.
Oversee project invoicing and ensure timely client billing and collections.
Mentor and support junior accounting staff assigned to project teams.
Collaborate with corporate finance to maintain accuracy of project data in accounting systems.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in project-based or professional services industries.
Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
Proficiency with ERP/project accounting systems (e.g., Oracle, Deltek, or similar).
Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills.
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
CPA or other relevant professional certification.
Experience with large-scale infrastructure, construction, or engineering projects.
Prior experience mentoring or supervising junior accountants.
Ability to thrive in a remote environment with distributed teams.
Strong business acumen with the ability to provide financial insights to non-financial stakeholders.
Salary Range: $120,000 – $150,000 annually (commensurate with experience).
