Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Purchasing Manager to lead all aspects of Supply Chain Management for our manufacturing operations in Montpelier, OH. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree and 4–5 years of proven purchasing experience in the automotive or heavy manufacturing sector. Preference will be given to local candidates.

The Purchasing Manager will be responsible for supplier selection and development, material and service cost management, on-time delivery, and quality assurance. This role interacts across all departments and levels of the organization to ensure materials needs are met effectively and ethically.


Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain Purchasing policies and procedures to ensure compliance with Automotive Quality standards.

  • Set departmental goals focused on cost containment and supplier performance improvement.

  • Identify and develop international suppliers to ensure quality at the lowest cost.

  • Ensure supplier compliance with company performance standards.

  • Issue and maintain accurate purchasing documents and records.

  • Manage daily operations of the Purchasing Department.

  • Build and maintain strong business relationships with suppliers.

  • Uphold the highest ethical standards in all purchasing activities.

  • Evaluate and investigate new supply sources and market trends.

  • Conduct supplier interviews and stay informed on procurement best practices and trends.

  • Lead negotiations with suppliers on new procurements and changes to existing agreements.

  • Ensure purchase orders and contracts reflect up-to-date requirements and compliance.

  • Collaborate with internal departments to review specifications, resolve issues, and support new product or program development.

  • Lead annual corporate-wide negotiations for steel procurement.

  • Act as the main liaison between the company and suppliers.

  • Coordinate and participate in meetings with suppliers and internal teams to strengthen supplier relationships.

  • Review procurement requests for completeness and initiate sourcing and supplier selection.

  • Draft purchase orders and agreements with all necessary terms, ensuring compliance with company policy and applicable laws.

  • Promote a culture of customer focus, continuous improvement, and risk-based thinking.

  • Provide guidance and mentorship to procurement staff.

  • Support special projects as assigned by management.

  • Develop and implement strategic sourcing and purchasing initiatives.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (required) or Professional Certification (ISM or APICS preferred)

  • Minimum 5 years of Purchasing and Materials experience

  • Experience in automotive or heavy manufacturing industries

  • Strong negotiation, communication, and supplier relationship management skills

  • Proficient in supply chain and procurement best practices

  • Ability to work cross-functionally and manage multiple priorities

Compensation
$85,000 - $105,000 Per Year
