Director of Lending
Location: New York, NY (Hybrid)
Salary Range: $110,000 – $125,000- no bonus structure
Employment Type: Full-Time, Exempt
Hybrid Schedule: 2- 3 days in office. Initial few weeks will be fully in office
A mission-driven financial services organization is seeking a Director of Lending to oversee the strategic and operational execution of its residential lending programs across New York State. This leadership role is ideal for someone with deep experience managing lending operations from intake to servicing, a proven track record of building and leading high-performing teams, and a passion for expanding access to equitable homeownership solutions.
Key Responsibilities:

Lead and manage all aspects of the lending lifecycle: intake, origination, processing, underwriting, closing, and servicing.

Supervise and develop a team of 13+ staff across lending operations.

Serve as primary administrator of the Loan Origination System (BytePro) and lead LOS upgrade initiatives.

Ensure organizational compliance with federal and state lending regulations, licensing, and reporting requirements.

Develop and implement policies, procedures, and system improvements to enhance efficiency, service delivery, and program integrity.

Produce dashboards, performance reports, and program deliverables for internal and external stakeholders.

Oversee external consultants, tech vendors, and contractors supporting lending operations.

Collaborate closely with executive leadership to expand, improve, and launch new lending programs responsive to underserved markets.
Required Qualifications:

Minimum 5 years of experience in residential mortgage lending operations, including loan origination, underwriting, and servicing.

At least 3 years in a leadership or management role, overseeing teams and lending processes.

Demonstrated experience administering or implementing loan origination systems (BytePro or similar).

Strong knowledge of federal and state mortgage compliance requirements.

Proven ability to drive operational improvements and implement strategic initiatives.

Experience managing vendors and coordinating cross-functional teams.

Strong communication skills, sound judgment, and a team-oriented leadership style.
Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.

Experience working with community development or mission-based lending programs.

Familiarity with foreclosure prevention, alternative lending products, or non-traditional credit profiles.

Eligible to be licensed as a Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO) and/or approved as a Qualified Individual with the NYS Department of Financial Services.
