Job Summary:
The GCP Cloud Engineer is responsible for implementing cloud architecture and deployment standards as defined by the Cloud Architect and Cloud Operations team, with a strong focus on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). This position ensures the reliable provisioning of application hosting environments, automation of infrastructure processes, and enforcement of security and operational standards. Operating within a DevOps methodology, the Cloud Engineer serves as the primary technical lead for projects involving GCP cloud infrastructure and is instrumental in driving strategic cloud adoption and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:
- Provision and configure VPCs, compute instances, and cloud environments on GCP using automated, repeatable processes.
- Implement designs and standards provided by the Cloud Architect and Cloud Operations team.
- Act as the primary infrastructure point of contact for cloud deployment projects.
- Establish configurations, automation scripts, and tools to enable efficient cloud services consumption.
- Define, publish, and ensure adherence to infrastructure standards and procedures, adapting them as needed for strategic and tactical goals.
- Collaborate with NetSecOps to evaluate and apply required security controls as per CISO standards using templated/automated methods.
- Analyze GCP services and recommend new features for adoption.
- Manage users, organizations, groups, and access control within GCP based on IAM requirements.
- Build monitoring and reporting systems to meet management and operational oversight needs.
- Define standard operating procedures (SOPs) for using IaaS (via IaC), PaaS, and SaaS on GCP.
- Promote cloud platform capabilities and support broader organizational cloud adoption.
- Act as a Tier-2 escalation point for after-hours troubleshooting and break-fix efforts as part of a weekly on-call rotation.
- Interface with third-party vendors to meet work unit and organizational cloud infrastructure goals.
- Lead lifecycle management of cloud resources and drive continuous process improvements within the CloudOps team.
Minimum Qualifications:
- At least 5 years of infrastructure development experience with GCP, including compute, network, storage, content delivery, security, deployment, and automation technologies.
- At least 5 years of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) experience using Terraform or similar tools.
- Deep domain expertise across cloud infrastructure areas, including IaaS (Linux/Windows), security, networking, storage, containers, OSS, and business continuity/disaster recovery.
- Experience with large-scale enterprise infrastructure deployments.
- Experience with Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) automation.
- Proficiency in scripting using Python, Bash, and PowerShell.
- Google Cloud Foundational Certification.
- Must be able to pass Criminal Justice Information and State/Federal background checks.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Google Professional Cloud Architect Certification.
- Advanced experience with Terraform.
- Experience with Azure DevOps.
