Description: This is a hybrid position that requires 2-3 days per week in the office located at the prime contractor’s site in Alexandria, VA. Primarily responsible for hands-on system administration and implementation of technical configurations consistent with the end-to-end programmatic and technical objectives to achieve a technical roadmap that meets future capability needs while being responsive to current customer mission requirements and challenges. As the on-site system administrator you will be responsible for maintaining the operational availability of TENA, performing software upgrades, and resolving system issues. You will work on a team comprised of system engineers, software developers, and help desk technicians. Specific responsibilities will include the following:
- Study, design, and recommend architecture changes to improve the system, respond to security vulnerabilities, respond to user requests, or to address new technologies
- Obtain and maintain an understanding of applicable commercial technologies and changes in technology; translate this knowledge into optimization/changes to system capabilities, reliability, and maintainability
- Perform hands-on system administration tasks alongside the developer teams to assist with removing roadblocks and maintain the availability and operations of the system
- Adhere to DevSecOps principles as they apply to the Government and Prime contractor systems engineering plan and processes.
- Respond to and resolve customer inquiries and help desk tickets
- Contribute to contract deliverables to include the system administration manual/processes, system architecture, test processes and procedures, and transition plan
- Perform system administrator tasks to keep the system updated, secured, and available
- Track and manage tasks related to system administration functions
- Proactively communicate with the prime contractor and government teams to communicate system architecture, recommend changes, provide analysis of changes and determine impacts to the system
- Manage system maintenance and maintain security posture while minimizing system downtime
- Participate in weekly status and technical meetings
- Hands-on expertise in performing the following administration functions:
- Linux server administration
- RSA configuration
- Networking
- Mid-level scripting
- Experience with Apache, Bitbucket, and MAC OS
- Experience with cloud architectures and technologies
- Excellent in-person and written communication to include providing executive-level summaries of technical descriptions, recommendations, and issues
- Forward-leaning approach to problem-solving and proactive management of tasking
- At least 7 years experience in system administration, linux system administration preferred
Compensation: We are committed to providing fair and competitive compensation. The salary range for this position is $78,000 to $250,000 per year. This range reflects the compensation offered across the locations where we hire. The exact salary will be determined based on the candidate's work location, specific role, skill set, and level of expertise.
