Our Canadian based client is on the cutting edge of Automation and Robotic Equipment manufacturing.  This is an exciting opportunity for a innovative and inspired Engineering Manager to lead a dynamic team in a growing organization. 

The Engineering Manager will lead and develop a multidisciplinary engineering team, overseeing both mechanical and electrical engineering functions in the design and manufacturing of industrial equipment inclusive of automation systems and robotics. This role offers full project lifecycle involvement, from concept to commissioning and service, including onsite visits for installations, troubleshooting, and maintenance.  The ideal candidate has a strong expertise in automated equipment development and the leadership capability to effectively drive the department.

The Role:
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of mechanical, electrical  and software design engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment.
  • Oversee the design and development of mechanical and electrical systems including software, ensuring quality, compliance, and alignment with customer requirements.
  • Guide preliminary design concepts and drive the development of final solutions for various equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, electrical codes, and industry best practices across global regions
  • Drive standardization of mechanical and electrical components to optimize cost and efficiency.
  • Perform engineering calculations and oversee general equipment layouts that meet customer solution requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline manufacturing processes and resolve production challenges.
  • Provide technical leadership while supporting factory acceptance testing, trials, and troubleshooting with clients.
  • Manage project timelines, ensuring successful execution and delivery.
  • Act as a key point of contact for both internal teams and external stakeholders, ensuring strong communication and customer satisfaction.

The Ideal Candidate:
  • 8+ years of engineering experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering (or a related field) or equivalent technical qualifications.
  • Strong leadership skills with a proven ability to manage both mechanical and electrical/software engineering teams.
  • Experience with Robotics is an asset
  • Experience in 3D parametric modeling and 2D drawing (AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor preferred).
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking abilities related to automation, capital equipment, robotics, and electrical systems.
  • Understanding of Lean principles, electrical design standards, and cost estimation.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines while maintaining a focus on quality and efficiency.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a customer-focused mindset.
  • SAP experience is an asset.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel internationally an estimated 10%.
