Our client is a fast growing Canadian based Manufacturer shipping goods across the world. They are looking to add a skilled and experience Logistics Specialist to their northern Toronto location. The Logistics Specialist oversees end-to-end logistics operations, ensuring full compliance with international trade regulations—including HS codes, customs brokerage, tariffs, and requirements from agencies such as the FDA and EU authorities. This role is responsible for preparing and coordinating documentation for both local and international shipments, monitoring regulatory compliance, and analyzing logistics data to identify opportunities for process improvement.

The Role:
  • Coordinate and manage all shipping documentation for domestic and international freight, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery in line with customs and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with global trade regulations, including classification under HS codes, tariff application, and adherence to FDA, EU, and other relevant import/export standards.
  • Liaise with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and internal teams to resolve logistics issues and facilitate seamless movement of goods across borders.
  • Analyze shipping data and logistics performance metrics to identify inefficiencies, reduce costs, and support continuous process improvement initiatives.
  • Oversee cross-border shipments, proactively resolving delays or compliance issues to maintain supply chain continuity.
  • Track and monitor shipments, providing timely status updates to internal stakeholders and addressing any exceptions.
  • Analyze logistics data and shipping trends to uncover process inefficiencies, reduce costs, and support strategic planning.
  • Ensure full compliance with dangerous goods regulations, including accurate classification, documentation, labeling, and packaging of hazardous materials.
  • Stay current on evolving export controls, FDA mandates, and global trade regulations, adapting procedures as needed to maintain compliance.

The Ideal Candidate:
  • Degree or Diploma in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related discipline preferred.
  • 6+ years of experience in logistics or supply chain operations, ideally within the manufacturing industries.
  • Proven expertise in export logistics, including customs regulations, FDA compliance, and international shipping practices.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with a continuous improvement mindset and a focus on cost reduction.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with a strong service orientation toward both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Highly adaptable and self-motivated, capable of working independently or collaboratively across teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and hands-on experience with ERP systems.
  • Relevant certifications in logistics or supply chain management (e.g., CITT, SCMP, APICS) considered an asset.
