Electrical Planner
Pay: Based on experience
Description:
We are looking for an Electrical Planner to join our team! The Electrical Planner is responsible for working effectively in a variety of computer systems and software applications while providing internal and power utility clients with utility design services and solutions needed to accurately construct OH/UG power distribution systems.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Select and interpret data on a map-based platform such as ArcGIS/ESRI.
Perform field inspections of overhead/underground construction for compliance and customer standards.
Advise customers and contractors on standards for new/upgraded secondary services.
Write construction orders for overhead/underground secondary jobs.
Negotiate with residential and commercial customers if requested.
Participate in meetings; provide advice and direction on products/services.
Prepare proposals, presentations, work unit policies/procedures as needed.
Understand overhead distribution and client specifications to develop appropriate design solutions.
Conduct research, field visits, and support scoping of jobs.
Other duties as assigned by Project Manager.
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
Interpret sketches, drawings, building programs, and other similar materials.
Primarily office-based work.
Ability to travel and/or work in the field as needed.

Qualifications:
High school diploma/equivalent with completion of courses in drafting/CAD, basic electricity, physics, and mathematics (including geometry or technical math).
Engineering Tech or related degree preferred.
Associates degree in technical/design field preferred.
Minimum 2 years of experience in electrical utility planning (if education requirements not met).
Experience in overhead/underground power distribution design preferred.
Experience with AutoCAD and Civil3D; ESRI, ArcGIS, MicroStation preferred.
Experience with all phases of engineering document production and understanding of drawings/specifications preferred.
