Job Title: Tool Room Technician
Location: North Vernon, IN
Schedule: 2nd Shift | On-site
Pay Rate:
Up to $22.59/hour
Duration: 12-Month Contract (Temp-to-Hire Opportunity)

Position Overview:
A Tool Room Technician is needed to support tool preparation, maintenance, and inventory within a high-paced manufacturing environment. This role involves assisting with CNC machining, maintaining accurate tooling records, and ensuring all tools are production-ready and meet quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate Makino milling machines, manual mills, grinders, and Wheelabrator (training provided)

  • Prepare tooling: breakdown, clean, inspect, and rebuild as needed

  • Measure step heights on punches and maintain accurate log entries

  • Maintain punch cut records, tool sign-out logs, and dispense-to-oven sheets

  • Receive tooling from vendors and conduct basic inspections

  • Assist with transferring tool path programs to Makino mills via computer

  • Support tooling inventory and participate in daily/monthly PMs

  • Follow all safety protocols and procedures

  • Contribute to training efforts and production readiness for tools and dies

  • Perform additional tasks as assigned

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a manufacturing/tool room environment

  • CNC machining or blueprint reading experience is a plus

  • Hands-on experience with:

    • Drill press

    • Sawing

    • Manual tool room equipment

    • Material handling and storage of hazardous materials

  • Awareness of ISO9001, IATF16949, and ISO14001 standards

  • Understanding of Lock-out/Tag-out and machine/tool safety procedures

  • Comfortable using hand tools on contoured steel and preparing parts for CNC work

  • Basic computer skills to manage program transfers and log data

Additional Information:

  • Overtime may be required

  • Background check and drug screening mandatory

  • Tools and PPE provided as needed
