Job Title: Summer Special Education Program Teacher Aide
Pay: $16.50/hour
Term of Employment: July 10, 2024 – August 20, 2024
Location: Monroe One BOCES – 41 O’Connor Road, Fairport NY 14450; various locations

Job Description:
Looking to make a meaningful impact in just a few weeks this summer? Join Monroe One BOCES and support students with disabilities in a rewarding, hands-on role. As a Summer Special Education Program Teacher Aide, you'll play a vital part in creating a supportive learning environment for students while gaining valuable classroom experience.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Provide instructional support to students with disabilities, both individually and in small groups, under the guidance of certified teachers.

  • Assist with supervision in classrooms, hallways, cafeterias, playgrounds, and more.

  • Help manage classroom behavior using positive behavior support and crisis intervention strategies.

  • Prepare materials, support lessons, and help with classroom organization and record keeping.

  • Use your own unique skills to support learning in areas like art, music, recreation, or vocational training.

  • Ride the school bus with students and participate in off-campus community-based learning activities.

  • Assist students in both therapeutic and traditional pool settings.

  • Support students with self-care, mobility, and daily living needs.

  • Attend meetings and participate in ongoing professional development.

  • Be a team player—ready to jump in wherever needed!

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.

  • Civil Service eligibility for Teacher Aide/Paraeducator (includes one year of clerical or childcare experience, or relevant certification).

  • Ability to perform physical job duties such as lifting, ambulating, and using physical intervention techniques.

  • Must be comfortable assisting with both hygienic support and the swimming unit.

  • Must be available for the full duration of the summer program and attend mandatory orientation (dates TBD).

  • Applicants who are not current BOCES employees must submit proof of education with their application.
